CIEnfuegos/Havana - Sadko Hadzihasanovic

Sadko Hadzihasanovic – has participated in a number of international exchange projects, including Fata Morgana—a ‘parallel’ project at the 8th bienal de la Habana, which was curated by Yuneikys Villalonga. He also took part in Red Tree’s collaboration with Mexican artists at the Autonomous University of Mexico, Xochimilco, and has created a number of works about the connection between Cuba and his former homeland of Yugoslavia.  Hadzihasanovic brings his interest in camouflaging history and ideology through ironic and humorous interventions. His thoughts on ‘Pop and Colonial Kommunism’ stem from what he considers a ‘fresh insider’s’ eye on consumerism and popular culture. His site-specific placement of historical narratives treats space and time as variables, while his intervention functions as constant. For phase I, Proyecto ReMix, he brought three works in acrylic over printed French textiles, and produced a painting with help from local students in Cienfuegos. In Hamilton, he intends to install a few small works that he created in Cuba, in the library of Dundurn Castle, and “perform” a portrait painting session in period costume, for visitors to the Drawing Room.
