Delio Delgado - Hell is around the Corner and Casi Nunca, Casi Siempre
Delio Delgado – moved to Hamilton from Santo Domingo in 2005. Raised and educated in the Caribbean, Delgado feels a special connection to Cuba, and is intimate with the ‘regional map.’ His interventions with found blueprints and maps subvert the colonial claims to geographic ‘planning’. In a reversal of geopolitical exotica, Delgado’s recent work proposes archeological traces of Latin culture on a future map of the Golden Horseshoe area. In Cienfuegos, Delgado traced the origins of the city’s French colonial architecture. Archival images by different European ‘explorers’ and ‘conquerors’ illustrate the claims foreign powers made on the Caribbean islands.
