in collaboration with Red Tree artists - Dubpoet Klyde Broox
and printmaker Ingrid Mayrhofer - Hamilton City Staff
have designed banners for public display on King William Street -
the Art Walk.

Sometimes the public seems to forget how substantially public
workers contribute to the well-being of our city. This workplace
arts project offered an opportunity for city workers to
explore their creativity and to remind the community that
public employees provide reliable, effective and efficient daily
services that directly improve the welfare of many community
members, maintain essential infrastructure, and beautify public
spaces.
Public employees are community members too, they are also
home and property owners who pay taxes and rely on the
services that the jobs of public employees provide. Public space
is their work place!
The project was inspired by the awesome installation job performed
by Kevin and Anthony (see pix on this page) for ArtMatch, our
contribution to the PanAM Games in collaboration with
centre3 for print and media arts in 2015.

Participants include City of Hamilton staff as well as members of
CUPE 5167 who may not be employed by the city. Some of the
workshops welcomed children whose prints reflect on their parents' jobs.

Exercising their creative rights, the following city workers (and family)
contributed to the banners with poems, relief prints, monoprints and collages:
TAMMY ROSS | DEB STRINGER | BRIGITTE MINARD |
PATRICIA EYRE | WENDY ARIENS-TOMES | JULIA VAN DER LAAN DE
